To help readers understand the content better, the following terms and glossaries have been provided.

Average Revenue Per User (ARPU): Pinterest defines its ARPU as its total revenue in a given geography during a period divided by the average of the number of Monthly Active Users (MAUs) in that geography during the period.

Pinterest calculates the average MAUs based on the average of the number of MAUs measured on the last day of the current period and the last day prior to the beginning of the current period.

Pinterest calculates ARPU by geography based on its estimate of the geography in which revenue-generating activities occur. Pinterest uses these metrics to assess the growth and health of the overall business and believe that MAUs and ARPU best reflect its ability to attract, retain, engage and monetize its users, and thereby drive revenue.

While these numbers are based on what Pinterest believes to be reasonable estimates of its user base for the applicable period of measurement, there are inherent challenges in measuring usage of its products across large online and mobile populations around the world.

In addition, Pinterest is continually seeking to improve its estimates of user base, and such estimates may change due to improvements or changes in technology or methodology.

Insight & Summary of Pinterest’s ARPU By Region/Country

The following analysis consolidates the trends observed across Pinterest’s regional ARPU for the 2018–2025 period.

  • Global ARPU: Structural Growth with Compositional Headwinds Global ARPU has grown from $3.14 (2018) to $7.21 (2025), approximately a 2.3x expansion over seven years. However, the growth rate has decelerated materially — from 35.9% in 2021 (elevated by the post-COVID advertising surge) to single digits in most subsequent years: 9.8% (2022), 1.3% (2023), 7.8% (2024), and 3.9% (2025). This deceleration is only partially attributable to monetization maturation; it is also a structural mathematical outcome of the user base composition shift. As Rest of World MAUs (at $0.83 ARPU) grow faster than U.S. & Canada MAUs (at $30.84 ARPU), the blended global average is mechanically diluted. The global ARPU figure therefore understates the underlying monetization progress happening within each individual region and should be read alongside regional breakdowns rather than in isolation. The FY2023–2025 average of $6.86 at 4.3% growth reflects this blended dilution dynamic.

  • U.S. & Canada: High-ARPU Maturity with Continued Upside U.S. & Canada ARPU reached $30.84 in 2025 from $21.07 in 2021 — a 46% cumulative increase in four years, or approximately 10% CAGR. Growth has been uneven: 15.7% in 2022 (post-COVID ad market rebound), decelerating sharply to 4.7% in 2023 (domestic ad market softness), recovering to 14.2% in 2024, then moderating to 5.8% in 2025. The 2023 and 2025 deceleration episodes share a common feature — they coincide with broader digital advertising cycle compression rather than platform-specific monetization degradation, which is an important distinction for forward modeling. At $30.84, U.S. & Canada ARPU remains well below the levels achieved by Meta (~$70+ per U.S. user) or Alphabet in display advertising, suggesting meaningful monetization headroom if Pinterest continues to improve its lower-funnel performance advertising products and retail media integrations. The FY2023–2025 average of $28.50 at 8.2% growth is the weakest of any region in growth rate terms, confirming that this market is in its monetization maturity phase rather than its acceleration phase.

  • Europe: The Highest-Quality Growth Signal Europe ARPU has grown from $3.03 (2021) to $5.12 (2025), a 69% cumulative increase in four years. More importantly, the growth trajectory is accelerating rather than decelerating: 6.6% (2022), 15.5% (2023), 13.7% (2024), and 20.8% (2025). The 2025 acceleration to 20.8% — the highest Europe growth rate in the dataset — against a meaningful absolute base of $5.12 is the most constructive data point in this report. It signals that European monetization is gaining structural momentum, likely driven by the broader adoption of Pinterest’s performance advertising tools, improved advertiser education around the platform’s purchase-intent audience, and the natural diffusion of monetization best practices from the U.S. market into European markets. At $5.12 against a U.S. & Canada ARPU of $30.84, Europe is at approximately 17% of the U.S. level — far below what the underlying user behavior and purchase-intent data would theoretically support. The FY2023–2025 average of $4.36 at 16.7% growth makes Europe the most compelling medium-term ARPU story in the portfolio: large user base (158M MAUs), accelerating monetization, and a wide gap relative to a demonstrated U.S. ceiling.

  • Rest of World: High Growth, Very Low Base Rest of World ARPU expanded from $0.29 (2021) to $0.83 (2025) — a 186% cumulative increase in four years, and the growth rate re-accelerated sharply in 2025 to 40.7% from 18.0% in 2024. At $0.83 against a U.S. & Canada ARPU of $30.84, RoW monetization stands at approximately 2.7% of the North American level, reflecting the structural realities of emerging market digital advertising: lower CPMs, less sophisticated advertiser ecosystems, and platform-side underinvestment in sales infrastructure. The 2025 re-acceleration to 40.7% is notable in the context of 356M users — it translates to roughly $30M in incremental annualized revenue per $0.10 of ARPU increase, making even small absolute ARPU gains highly levered at this user scale. The FY2023–2025 average of $0.64 at 25.0% growth reflects the compounding potential, but the absolute level is sufficiently low that RoW will remain a supporting rather than primary driver of ARPU-led revenue for several years.

  • Structural Takeaway: The ARPU dataset reveals a business at three distinct stages of monetization simultaneously: a maturing but still-growing North American market, an inflecting European market with significant runway, and an early-stage but rapidly-scaling Rest of World. The strategic implication is that Pinterest’s blended revenue growth rate is likely to remain in the mid-teens for several years without requiring North American acceleration — Europe and RoW ARPU compounding against their respective user bases provides the incremental revenue layer. If Europe ARPU reaches $10–$12 (approximately one-third of the U.S. level, consistent with where Meta’s European ARPU has settled), that alone represents an incremental $800M–$1.1B in annualized revenue against the 2025 European user base of 158M — a transformative uplift relative to the current $775M European revenue base.
